Stuck In Information Overload?

I have no business discussing politics.

This is why I’m not, but there is a lesson in my learning politics that can help you. If you stick with me, you’ll learn how to apply new information you learn when trying to be the best version of yourself.

My girlfriend has taught me many lessons about politics and black history.

With the presidential election starting to heat up, I’ve taken more interest in politics and tried to grasp its nature. This means I’ve asked her many questions and read articles, research papers, books, and many opinion pieces to gain a deeper understanding.

The information about politics, power structures, and the economy is massive. Not much is out there that clearly explains how to process it, so you just have to dive in headfirst.

Just like trying to be a better solopreneur.

There is a wealth of knowledge but little strategic offering on how to apply, start, and benefit from the information.

Most solopreneurs dive in head first, excited and ambitious.

But after a few rounds with reality, that motivation wanes, and the truth sets in that this won’t be easy pickings. Some stop. Others start and stop…multiple times.

Most progress forward with stress, frustration, and overwhelm constantly biting at their heels.

This is the mistake that most solopreneurs make. They dive into information without considering the skills needed to move their business forward.

Solopreneurs will learn about the best way to grow on IG, without even knowing what they want to talk about or who to serve.

I’ve talked to people who spend hours making videos that they stumble and mumble through but cannot clearly convey the message they are trying to share.

There are levels to this ish.

And the levels go deep.

Not wide.

It’s all about breaking down and applying the mounds of information out there individually. That’s why I believe those who prioritize the implementation of skills over those who get sucked into “analysis paralysis” will be the ones that succeed.

Here’s how I have approached going deeper into business, marketing, and self-improvement:

I’ve spent the last 8 to 9 years learning. It’s only been within the last year and a half to two years that I finally realized that I lacked a lot of implementation on what I was learning, which resulted in me only seeing surface-level problems. That meant I was average and unable to take things to the next level.

I began asking myself what I believed I needed to be more intentional about implementing to reach a better version of myself.

It came down to two skills.

  1. Human Psychology.
  2. Communication.

They go hand in hand because you gain insight into the other once you learn one.

BUT — Let’s take communication, for example.

Once I identified that being better at communication would help my personal and professional relationships, I started asking how to learnmore about this skill.

Which lead to books.

That led to videos.

Then that led to podcast.

Which led to more books.

As I gain a deeper understanding of communication, I ask deeper questions.

These deeper questions led to the transformation I sought in my ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others.

The point is that I broke down the skills I needed to ascend to the next level in my life.

To market your business better, it has to go deeper than some social media tactics for growth and audience building.

Read what I wrote about in yesterday’s email for a deep lesson in power, influence, and persuasion.

That 1400-word message alone teaches you how to go deeper in understanding others, which will help you understand yourself and your purpose.

I can’t wait to use my new communication skills and political knowledge to converse with my buddy Nomad(Hi Nomad if you’re reading this).

Since we’ve known each other, he has shared different political insights, but they went over my head, or I didn’t care to gain a deeper understanding.

Final note–ask yourself this question–what do you need to learn today to set yourself up for success tomorrow? –As you find that path, the tracks will fall into place.

Anyway, if you want a deeper understanding of how you to beat the algorithm on any given platform, then check out this podcast episode.
